Hi All,
A little update on some bits ‘n’ bobs…
HEALTH STUFF
As you may have seen, I’ve had a few health issues recently. I’ve had some crippling back pain, which now – fingers crossed – seems to be on the way out, and I’m now diagnosed as pre-diabetic, so I’m a Rizla away from actually slipping into diabetes. Plus, I’m now on medication for chest pains (luckily, the hospital thinks it’s gastric rather than my heart as the ECG came back OK). I’m off the booze entirely again and this may even be a permanent state of affairs. It’ll certainly be a long break at the very least.
STAND-UP-POETRY
But aside from that, things are rolling on as usual-ish. The Domestics are rehearsing songs for a new record (7 down, 3 to go), and I’ve been doing a ton of stand-up-poetry gigs (someone suggested what I do is “stand-up-poetry” and I think it describes it pretty damn well!).

ESSEX
If you’re in or around Essex, I cannot urge you strongly enough to grab a ticket for this gig at Colchester Arts Centre on 19th June. The headliner is Andy Riley, and extremely funny man who has written for a whole host of beloved comedy shows, including Big Train, Smack The Pony, Armstrong and Miller, Black Books, Spitting Image, The Armando Iannucci Show, Veep, Trigger Happy TV, and Year of the Rabbit to name just a few. He’s won not only a BAFTA, but an Emmy as well, and is the creator, author and artist of the best-selling series of Bunny Suicides cartoon books (thus far selling around one and a half million copies). Not gonna lie; he’s fucking hysterical. Just brilliant.
I’m supporting, alongside the excellent Leon The Poet, and the equally excellent Dawn Vincent. Info and tickets here.
If you can’t make 19th June in Colchester, then there is one more opportunity to catch Andy, me and Leon (opener is the very funny Laura Bradley) at Hot Box in Chelmsford on July 31st (it’s a pretty small venue, right next to the train station, and tickets are 75% sold out already. Grab a ticket while you still can here.
I’m also in Ely, Rushden and a few other places over the coming months. Check here for details.
Cheers! Hope to see you in Essex (or anywhere)!!!!
James
