I offer a fun, interesting, interactive and instructive workshop for up to 16 people per session. A session runs to approximately two hours with a short comfort break in the middle.

It'll be a lot of fun, but also very useful for the budding performance poet, the performance poet that wants tips on how to improve, or any poet or person that enjoys words really. I draw on my experience to cover topics including:

* Your voice and how to use it on the page AND on the stage 

* Accent

* What is your poetry for?

* Microphone basics

* Prepare! Prepare! Prepare!

* Memory vs Reading

* Keeping your audience engaged

* Basic form and rhythm 

* When a rhyme is not a rhyme!

* Finding your style

* How to get booked!

* Putting together a set

We will also create some poetry in a laid-back, unpressurised setting. Reading of said poetry will be entirely optional (I never want to make people uncomfortable – where’s the fun in that?!?!)

The cost of the workshop is £220.  Travel expenses are included within a 35 mile radius of my home. Any mileage over a 35 mile radius (e.g. a 70 mile round trip) will be charged at the standard rate of £0.55 per mile.

If you would like me to run the workshop twice on the same day (with at least a one hour break in between sessions) at the same venue, the second workshop will cost just £170.
