Advance Tickets: £5 On the Door: £7 Doors: 6:45

The second team-up of James Domestic and Virginia Betts – the first one being in Trimley St Mary in May 2025. And with no less than three short “warm up” sets from three excellent and varied poets -David Mustill, Dawn Vincent, and Michael Bamber - this is a great value night of fine words indeed!

James Domestic Domestic has been gigging across the country for the past few years with his quirky, humorous, and often poignant observations on the minutiae of everyday life. He’s appeared on BBC Radio a number of times, guested on various podcasts (once with Count Binface), and even performed on BBC Breakfast TV. He has taken two successful shows to Colchester Fringe Festival (‘That’s’ Not Poetry!’ and ‘Poetry for People Who Think They Don’t Like Poetry!’), and has supported Henry Normal, Luke Wright, Attila the Stockbroker, and Andy Riley, amongst others.

“James Domestic is a powerhouse of performance poetry” (Henry Normal, writer, poet and TV and Film producer – The Royle Family, Mrs Merton Show etc.)

“Somewhere between stand-up comedy and a poetry reading…as much a cutting satirist as he is a phenomenal poet” (Noah Pantano, Fringe Review)

“Words that bite, belch, and bleed in their brilliance” (Mark Grist, multi-award-winning poet, battle-rapper, and star of Channel 4’s ‘Mr Drew’s School for Boys’)

“Integrity, compassion and guts” (Steve Ignorant, Crass)

“James is profound, James is belly laughs; he’s got the lot” (Andy Riley, BAFTA and Emmy winning comedy writer on Big Train, Smack the Pony, Veep, Black Books and more)

“James' poetry sharply focuses in on the raw ridiculous truth of the world that is right in front of us all.” (Scott Coe, former Stamford Poet Laureate)

“Relentless” (Attila the Stockbroker, social surrealist poet and songwriter)

Victoria Betts Author, poet, actor and tutor, Virginia Betts has written a number of books, which range from poetry collections, a collection of supernatural and noir stories, and thrilling “Brit Grit” novels. She has been widely published in many journals and magazines, both online and in print, and won a number of awards for her work, which has received much critical acclaim:

“Uniting the directness of modern poetry with the musicality of traditional verse” (Suffolk poetry Society)

“Any subject can inspire this talented Suffolk poet, from space travel to parenthood and childhood” (Tim Saunders, publisher, journalist and poet)

“Seedy, gutsy and occasionally psychotic…" (Jane Savidge, best-selling author and Britpop lynchpin)

“Rich in beautiful metaphors and sublime imagery” (Bristol Noir magazine)

David Mustill The carefully crafted words of Ipswich’s own David Mustill always hit the spot. An excellent wordsmith who’s edgy, witty and poignant. Class.

Dawn Vincent The “neuroshiny” novelist and poet, Dawn Vincent, can make you cry one minute and roar with laughter the next (see the infamous “swimming pool” and “goose” poems!). Always a treat.

Michael Bamber One of the co-hosts of the excellent GOB night in Bury St Edmunds, Michael Bamber is an arresting prose poet, mining his real life experiences for short tales both poignant and amusing.
